PLUS: The Ten Commandments ( 4-page checklist!)
A checklist is a standardized list of required steps developed usually for repetitive tasks. It provides several benefits. It helps people stay more organized, assuring them they will not skip any important step in the process. A checklist motivates us to take action and complete tasks.

Here’s a sneak peek of the content:

Matthew 22:39 explains that the second of the greatest commandments is to love your neighbor as yourself. Upon this premise, God gives the command of not bearing false witness against your neighbor.

Bearing a false witness against your neighbor shows itself as telling a lie against your neighbor. It entails speaking of things people did not do in a bid to portray them in a bad image before other people.

This is contrary to the nature we get from God because we are to put away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor: for we are members one of another (Eph 4:25).

If you love your neighbor, you wouldn’t tell a lie against him, not even in exaggeration.

Bearing false witness against your neighbor also includes the failure to defend their cause when you have the opportunity to do so. For whatever reason, if you fail to fight for your neighbor’s good name when it is being dragged in the mud, it implies that you support its profanation. Conversely, you will be no different from the people who use words to ruin your neighbor’s reputation.

So, to ensure that God’s intent in giving this commandment is materialized in your life, steer clear from defaming people and speaking unjustly of their shortcomings. You must also endeavor to defend people whenever you see that their good reputation is on the verge of ruin.
